Designated Officer - how and when to refer

The session will be beneficial to anyone working in a child-facing organisation who is responsible for safeguarding or managing risk in relation to allegations against staff, or with responsibility for staff and volunteers who work with children.

The session will cover:

• Identifying the staff and volunteer groups subject to Designated Officer procedures. 
• What agencies need to do when a concern is received about a staff member. 
• The differences between a concern, a complaint and an allegation.
• Referral criteria – in what circumstances should you refer?
• How to complete a comprehensive DO referral – what information do you need to share?
• Your role after referring – the review process and conclusions explained.
