Overview
The SSCP Guide to our Thresholds of Need: Sunderland Safeguarding session is designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of prevalent safeguarding issues in Sunderland. The session covers types of abuse, indicators to look out for, the importance of professional curiosity, and the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES) on the life span. Participants will reflect on their roles and responsibilities and develop an understanding of intervention levels.
Learning Objectives
- Gain knowledge of prevalent safeguarding issues in Sunderland.
- Identify types of abuse and indicators.
- Understand the importance of professional curiosity.
- Reflect on roles and responsibilities in safeguarding.
- Develop an understanding of intervention levels (Thresholds).
- Consider the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences.
Who Should Attend?
Based on the current guidelines, the following groups should attend the Sunderland Safeguarding session:
- Group A - Support: Administrative staff, Business Support, Technicians including ICT, and Volunteers (Royal College of Nursing competence Level 1 and 2 equivalent).
- Group B –: Those working directly with children and families including Nurses, Police Officers, Teachers, Counsellors, and early career or new to role Early Help Workers and Social Workers (Royal College of Nursing competence Level 3 and 4 equivalent).
*Group C Practitioners (Managers and Leaders) should also attend if they are new to role, early career practitioners or as a refresher.
